Last year, N-BiG proudly became the first National Supporting Body for SURE Certification in Africa, putting Namibia at the forefront of sustainable biomass standards. This milestone is envisioned to open doors for promoting responsible biomass production, expanding global market access, and strengthening collaboration with Certification Bodies to certify companies across the biomass value chain.
Since then, we’ve been hard at work engaging in extensive consultations to ensure that SURE Certification is well understood and embraced by passionate biomass stakeholders in the sector.
And now, the moment we’ve been waiting for is here!
This week, N-BiG, together with an independent consultant from Germany, is conducting its first-ever SURE Certification audit for one of our members. At the same time, our technical team is receiving specialised training to prepare for the rollout of a SURE Group Scheme in Namibia, a step that will make certification more accessible for local producers.
