Bush-to-Energy: Nampower Otjikoto Biomass Power Plant

N-BiG supports local and international projects such as the Bush-to-energy:NamPower Otjikoto Biomass Plant. NamPower is working on the construction and operation of a 40MWe Otjikoto biomass power plant to generate electricity by the combustion of wood chips sourced from encroacher bush. The proposed site is approximately 7 km northwest of Tsumeb in the Oshikoto Region. A harvesting area extending beyond a 100 km radius surrounding the site has been identified from where encroacher bush will be harvested, processed, and transported power plant as its source of fuel.

N-BiG supported the development of the macro-economic study for the development of this biomass power plant and continues to support follow up measures such as the updating of this 2018 study
